French Low Calorie Soup

Low calorie French onion soup
2 large thinly sliced yellow onions
half of teaspoon garlic powder
1 table spoon low fat sugar
8 cups beef broth
4 tablespoons grated Parmesan
8 ultra thin slices of Swiss cheese
half tablespoon dried thyme
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
salt and pepper

Cooking instructions
You start by spraying a large pan with cooking spray. You add the sliced onions, one cup of broth and the garlic powder. You saute the mix until the broth is evaporated and the onions start caramelizing. You proceed by adding the rest of the ingredients. You now turn the slow cooker on high and let the soup cook for about 4 hours. When it is ready to serve, you put the soup in oven friendly bowls, add a piece of Swiss cheese on top and heat it in the oven until the cheese has a light brown color.
